Trash dumping

Reduce trash dumping by providing free dumpsters and 24-hour bulk waste drop-offs.

Smothering the dumpster areas with cameras, license plate readers, and the surrounding areas will discourage contractors and handypeople from using the dumpsters IF there are enough OPD officers to follow up AND a DA who will prosecute.

That's a lot of moving parts for a city government stuck in performative politics.

WM or the Duongs won't pay for any of that. The fiscal reality is City non-safety employee compensation needs to be reduced, preferably by union concessions, not layoffs. Because of binding arbitration for public safety, and competition from other cities for police and safety staff, don't expect reductions in police/fire compensation, just demand better management.

Most council candidates studiously avoid addressing the fiscal issues of improving Oakland City services for fear of getting accused of being "anti-labor" and attracting hit-piece mailers/ads from the city unions' independent expenditure committees.
